Almost one-third of Americans were unaware that watching a solar eclipse without proper eye protection can cause permanent eye damage. A survey of 1,006 people asked Americans about their knowledge of the health risks watching a solar eclipse with bare eyes can cause and few people are aware of the real dangers. More than 10% of Americans polled mistakenly believe that an eclipse can cause natural disasters, sleep problems and mental health issues.
