Earl Thomas Conley Dead At 77

Earl Thomas Conley died on Wednesday at the age of 77 in Nashville. The Tennessean reports he had been in hospice care for several months suffering with a condition similar to dementia.

Conley’s biggest hits came in the 1980s, charting 18 Number One hits between 1981 and 1989 including “Holding Her and Loving You,” “Right From the Start,” and “What I’d Say.” Conley scored more number one hits in the 1980’s than any other artist in any genre that decade, except for Alabama and Ronnie Milsap.
