VFW 7873 - Annual Labor of Love Event

Aug 31, 2014 8:00am - 11:59pm

2014 6th Annual Labor of Love Event

WHAT IS THE LABOR OF LOVE?

The 6th Annual “Labor of Love Soldiers Benefit in Loving Memory of Irene McKee”is a benefit that was started six years ago.  The idea of this benefit was inspired by the memory of Irene McKee, a past Ladies Auxiliary President, who over the years had done so much for our Veterans.  Irene died in May of 2009.  Each year, the benefit is held on the Sunday before Labor Day (Labor Day Weekend---get it? ‘Labor’ of Love?)  This annual event continues to grow in popularity, and in funds raised!!!  We tried some new things over the years, including moving it from the ‘slab’ to inside the Post Home.  That proved to be a wise move, since the day of the “Labor of Love”, the temperature consistently has been near one hundred degrees.

The Lake Texoma VFW Post 7873 Veterans and Men’s and Ladies’ Auxiliaries will host the event this year which will be held indoors at the post located at 250 VFW Drive, Pottsboro, TX 75076.  Funds raised from this event will be donated to the National Military Service Program (which includes the Military Assistance Plan, Operation Uplink & Unmet Needs) and local VFW initiatives, such as helping local veterans in need and post maintenance and renovation.

All members and friends of the post and public are invited to attend this event. There is no admission fee.
