GC Foundation's 2014 Annual Campaign

"Supporting the Dream"

Due to the inclement weather we all experienced during the month of February, the volunteer-driven phase of the Grayson College Foundation's 2014 Annual Campaign, (which typically runs from Feb 1-March 31), was extended through the end of April.   Campaign Volunteers are enthusiastic and optimistic that they are going to either meet or exceed their goal $330,000.00 in gifts & pledges for this year's Campaign.

The theme for our Annual Campaign is "Supporting the Dream"

Phil & Betty Roether of Pottsboro, TX are once again leading the GC Foundation's Annual Campaign as Co-Chairs.  Working with them are Team Leaders from several Grayson County communities (alphabetical by community):  Bells/Savoy-Alan & Bridget Renfroe;   Denison-Kris Spiegel; Gunter-Barbara Woodroof; Pottsboro-Nancy Anderson & Janet Ventura; Sherman-Jennifer Thompson; Van Alstyne-Nathan Petri.  Each of these Team Leaders has put together a team of Volunteers, who have been making personal contacts and hosting events throughout the county for prospective scholarship donors.  A number of current Grayson College students who are recipients of scholarships through the GC Foundation have also gotten involved with the Campaign this year.

The 2014 Annual Campaign officially kicked off on February 7th with a reception on campus, in the Arts & Communications Building, with more than 100 guests in attendance.  In keeping with the spirit of the Campaign's theme of "Supporting the Dream," GC Art Students made very unique "Dream Catchers" that were auctioned off during the evening, and guests were entertained by the Grayson College Choir and by several Music and Theatre students.

On February 28, Pottsboro Campaign Volunteers hosted a luncheon in the Grayson College Culinary Arts "691 Restaurant" with 60 guests in attendance.  During this luncheon, the GC Culinary Arts TIPSS Club presented the Grayson College Foundation a check for $5,000.00 to permanently endow a fund that will provide scholarship awards for Culinary Arts students at the College.

Denison Campaign Volunteers hosted a reception on April 3 at the new Iron Root Republic Distillery, where approximately 70 guests were in attendance.  During this reception, three  current scholarship recipients spoke about how the scholarship funds they received through the Grayson College Foundation made it possible for them to pursue their otherwise unachieveable dream of a higher education.

Volunteers have three more events scheduled.  If you are interested in learning how you might be able to establish a personally named annual - or permanently endowed scholarship fund through the Grayson College Foundation, you are welcome to attend; however, Volunteer organizers request that you RSVP so that proper arrangements can be made.  Following are the details for the upcoming events:

Sherman Campaign Event: Wednesday, April 23 from 6-7:30 pm at "903 Brewers" located at 1720 South Elm Street-RSVP: (903)893-6227

Van Alstyne Campaign Event: Tuesday, April 29 from 6-7:30 pm at the South Grayson College Campus located at 1455 West Van Alstyne Parkway-RSVP: (903)482-9587

The third event is a Motorcycle Run and benefit scheduled for Saturday, May 3.  The run will start at Texoma Harley-Davidson in Sherman, with first bike out at 9:00 am - last bike in at Loose Wheels at 11:00 am.  The benefit at Loose Wheels following the run is open to the public.  Proceeds from this benefit will go to the "Christopher King Memorial Scholarship" fund which has been established through the Grayson College Foundaton.

The Grayson College Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization.  Gifts to the GC Foundation are tax-deductible, to the extent allowed by law.  Donors may make a charitable contribution year round.  For more information or to make a donation to help "Support the Dream" of many, contact Tina Dodson in the Foundation Office at (903) 463-8716  or
