On January 31, 2014, Denison Police Sergeant Michael Byrd suffered a stroke after his involvement in a foot pursuit of a suspect while on duty.  After spending twenty-two days in the hospital, Sergeant Byrd was transferred to Carrus Rehabilitation Center in Sherman, TX. to continue his recovery.  Sgt. Byrd is a native of Denison, TX. and is married with five grandchildren.  He started his career with the Denison Police Department on December 3, 2001 and is assigned to the Patrol Division.  All proceeds will go to Sgt. Byrd’s family to help offset medical expenses.
