Blood Donors Sought To Make A World of Difference – March 21

March 7, 2014 — An Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) blood drive at the Landmark Bank in Madill will have impact near and far! The event will occur Friday, March 21, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those who are healthy and 16 years* or older are urged to give.

Patients in INTEGRIS Marshall County Medical Center and some 140 other medical facilities across the state rely on OBI blood donors for every drop needed as they battle for their lives.

During the month of March, donors will also help struggling blood centers a world away.  OBI will make a financial contribution in honor of each one to Global Blood Fund.

Global Blood Fund is a nonprofit that supports blood centers in underserved areas of the world. Equipment and supplies, often unavailable in certain countries, are provided through the charity.  To date, blood centers in Mexico, Haiti, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Georgia, Armenia and Japan have been able to elevate their services to local patients through voluntary blood donors.  More information on the charity is available at

“Blood donors will have the satisfaction of knowing they are saving lives of those in our area hospitals, and also making a difference for blood centers abroad, lacking even the basics.” John Armitage, M.D., OBI president and CEO, said.

All donors receive free health screenings and Donor Rewards Points, redeemable online for gift cards and merchandise.
