FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Denison, Texas – The Blackland Prairie Artisan and Fiber Festival will present its 2nd annual festival taking place at Texoma Exposition and Livestock Show Grounds at Loy Lake Park on September 21, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The Blackland Prairie Artisan and Fiber Festival committee is a group of experienced business owners, farmers and fiber artists who share the common goal of promoting the fiber arts in north Texas.  Our members have a wide range of experience and expertise in all area of fiber production and use.

This festival is an annual event that brings together artists from Texas and surrounding states to sell their creations and the tools of their trade in a festival atmosphere.  In addition to shopping, attendees will be treated to free demonstrations by skilled artisans in what are considered by many to be “lost arts†such as spinning, weaving Scottish Wool Waulking, wood carving and more.  The event is designed to engage the community.

In addition, musical entertainment will be provided by Bud Rager (the “Singing Son of Gunâ€), Stacey Whitson and Heather Scroggins.  A sheep herding demonstration will be given by the Red River Herding Club of Texas and a sheep to shawl event will be ongoing through the day as well as a silent auction.  A portion of the proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to ARFhouse (“Animal Refuge Foundationâ€) of Sherman.

The festival and all demonstrations are free.
