Imagine Dragons' Family Fun Night
Friday, March 22, 2013
All net proceeds will be split 50/50 between The Shuman Family and the Imagine Library.
The students of our school initiated the idea of raising money for the Shuman family and our library. Numerous sponsors will be in attendance including Fiat of McKinney, Benham Orthodontics, Guitar Sanctuary, REMN, Sanchez, The Crowder Law Firm, Advocare, Heritage Learning Center, and more. Additionally, Chick-fil-A will have a tent at our event featuring their cow and spinner! There will be over 50 items that have been donated from various organizations in our community that will be raffled off at the end of the evening. There will be bounce houses, obstacle courses, a rock wall, a dunk tank, mobile trampolines, face painting and games galore. We will also have pizza, cotton candy and sodas in addition to several vendors.
The Shuman family is a local McKinney family with three children that attend Imagine International Academy. Ileana Shuman, the youngest child, was enrolled in Kindergarten. She has been diagnosed with Pontine Glioma, which is a form of terminal brain cancer. Ileana left school to go to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee for treatment. Her prognosis is not good and the family is headed back to McKinney this week. If Ileana is able, she will be at the event, as well.
Imagine International Academy is an International Baccalaureate Candidate School serving six school districts in Collin County. This is its first year in operation and as a charter school, we do not receive local tax dollars and must fundraise to close the gap in funding. Through this event, we are trying to raise funds to build our library.
We are opening this event to the entire community to help raise awareness, as well as money for the family and their medical expenses. It will be a great event that will bring the whole community together.
